Congratulations! We’re so excited to welcome you to the Hawk family. Your admissions counselor will be in touch to help you stay on track as we prepare for your arrival. In the meantime, check out the list below for a complete list of your next steps.

Undergraduate Admission Checklist

Submit your $100 Advanced Tuition Deposit to secure your spot on campus!

Your Advanced Tuition Deposit secures your scholarships, your spot in your residence hall, your classes, and your spot at SOAR.

You may pay your deposit here.

*Deposits are nonrefundable after May 1 for fall students and December 1 for spring students.

To be considered for the maximum amount of financial aid, please complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA opens annually on October 1.

Chowan’s Priority Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) deadline is April 15.

*If you are a North Carolina resident, complete your North Carolina Residency Determination. Completing this step could qualify you for additional state funding.

Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) is required for all new, incoming undergraduate students.

SOAR dates are currently scheduled for April, May, and July. Click here for more information.

Though there are three SOAR dates, your attendance is only required at one.

Please note, SOAR is an all day event. Be prepared to stay for the entire event.

A few important reminders:

  • If you have a roommate in mind, you and your potential roommate must request one another on your housing form. If the request is not on both housing forms, we cannot accommodate your request.
    • If you would like to request a roommate after you have submitted your housing form, both students will need to submit their request in writing to the Admissions office.
  • You (the student) must complete your housing form and submit it yourself. You will not be assigned housing until you submit your form.

You may complete your medical form in sections. Please note that your physical must have been completed no earlier than one year prior to your starting enrollment date (for example, if your enrollment term begins August 2022, your physical must have been completed no earlier than August 2021).

Medical forms may be mailed, faxed, or emailed to Chowan University Admissions.

Submit a final, official transcript from any institution attended. Final transcripts must:

  • Be sent directly from the institution attended via online transcript service or mail
    • If mailed, transcript(s) must be sealed
  • Contain the following information:
    • Student Name
    • High School Name
      • Graduation Date (Any transcript printed before a student has graduated is not considered a final, official transcript)
      • Any transcript stating ‘expected graduation date’ will not be considered final.
    • Final grades

Final transcripts must be submitted prior to enrollment.

Athletes, please communicate with your coaches about any potential additional athletic insurance information.

Once you’ve completed the above steps, it’s time to pay your Fall account balance or set up a payment plan with the Business Office.

Submit all documents by August 1 to qualify for Express Check In Status.
