At Chowan, your education is personalized for you. But you’re never on your own. Professors who care. Students who encourage each other. Small classes where you get one-to-one attention. Resources to support you in your work. There’s opportunity here for every student to succeed, to achieve, to thrive.
Whether you need a little guidance once in a while or you benefit from regular academic support, you’ll find the help you need at Chowan.
Advising should be a collaborative effort between you and a professor who specializes in your field. Both of you share a responsibility for making this relationship work. The initial purpose of advising is to help you make decisions regarding classes. However, the more successful your relationship is, the sooner it will lead to your taking more responsibility for your own program of study.
In a welcoming, personalized atmosphere, academic coaches advise students on navigating the transition to college, choosing a major, or just managing schoolwork and life in general.
