Join Chowan for the 2024 Rouson Memorial Lecture, Featuring The Reverend Pamela Taylor
Join Chowan University for the Rev. George and Mrs. Luvenia Rouson Memorial Lecture featuring Rev. Pamela Taylor on Wednesday, February 7 at 11:00 am in the Chowan Chapel. This program was established by the Town of Murfreesboro, Chowan University, and local historian Alice Eley Jones to honor the contributions the Rousons made in Hertford County.
The 2024 Rouson Lecture will feature keynote speaker Rev. Pamela Taylor, a dedicated Chowan Alumna and active participant in the local community. In May of 2023, Taylor became the new chair of the Chowan University Ministerial Board, continuing to serve the university in the dedicated capacity she showed as a student. Taylor attended Chowan University in 1983, completing her Associate’s Degree before getting her B.S. in Business, and then returning to Chowan to obtain her second Bachelor’s Degree in Religion. Taylor, in her time at Chowan, belonged to the Chowan Christian Service Associate (CCSA), and has gone on to serve on the CCSA Board.
As a part of the Rouson event, two Hertford County Citizens will be recognized for their service to the community. Mrs. Orlanda G. Reed will receive the Minnie Woods Perkins Humanitarian Award, and Mrs. Emma P. Peoples will receive the Futrell/Ruffin Community Service Award.
Please join Chowan University to celebrate the Rousons’ legacy on Wednesday, February 7th, at 11:00 am in the Chowan Chapel. Admission is free and open to the public.
