Chowan University Announces 2024 Commencement Marshals and Gonfaloniers
Chowan University has named thirteen students as commencement marshals for the 2024 commencement ceremony. Student marshals were selected based on their GPAs from among the junior class. Other criteria considered included engagement with the university and leadership activities. The 2024 commencement marshals are:

Each Chowan University school selects a student to lead their degree candidates during the commencement procession. These students, called gonfaloniers, carry the school’s gonfalon, a banner that hangs down from a crosspiece and bears the school’s name and the University seal. Following the tradition borrowed from the Italian Renaissance, the gonfaloniers represent some of Chowan’s most accomplished students.
