Chowan University is proud to announce the appointment of Al-Tariq “Al” Fewell as our most recent admissions counselor. A Shelby native, Fewell received his Bachelors Of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Elizabeth City State University, where he spent time working in the administrative sector. In his role as an admissions counselor, Fewell will cover the central territories of North Carolina. Excited to start his time at Chowan, Fewell visited earlier this semester to assist with Chowan Scholarship Day. This dedication to Chowan before his official start shows his passion for his continuing career in higher education.

When asked about his feelings towards the job, he stated, “From my first interview on the campus, Chowan had a different kind of welcoming energy. It was so unexpected but I saw such a big vibrant personality from a campus so small and from then I knew this is where I was meant to be.” As a recent graduate himself, Fewell will be able to help ensure students are getting the best information before starting their college careers. 

Scott Parker, Director of Admissions, expressed his enthusiasm in Fewell’s placement in admissions. “I am so excited to welcome Al to the team. He just graduated college and was very involved which can help him relate with the students and their families.”   

In his spare time, Fewell enjoys coaching dance, and has spent upwards of five years instructing others in multiple genres of choreography! Please join us in welcoming Al-Tariq to Chowan University!
