MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men’s Basketball program and Head Coach Rob Burke announces the hiring of Griffin Schwartz as Assistant Coach for the Hawks.
“Griffin comes to us after spending several years with basketball coaches I highly respect,” said Coach Burke. With his coaching background, he has hit the ground running this summer in recruiting. This is a great opportunity for him as well to really learn the head coaching piece by overseeing our developmental program. There is nothing like on-the-job training. We are excited to have him here in Murfreesboro.”
Griffin comes to Chowan after spending a season at Central Connecticut State as the Blue Devils’ Director of Basketball Operations (DOBO).
Prior to CCSU, Schwartz spent a season as the assistant coach at Trinidad State. While with the Trojans, Schwartz helped the program to a Region IX Championship with an 18-13 overall record after the program won three games the previous year. The Trojans picked up wins against nationally-ranked Western Wyoming and Otero.
Before TSC, Griffin spent a year at East Carolina as a Graduate Assistant with the Pirates Men’s Basketball program. Schwartz was also a Student Manager for American University during undergraduate studies.
The Boca Raton, Fla. native graduated from the Kogod School of Business at American University with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Entertainment with a specialization in Sports Analytics in 2020. Schwartz would receive his master’s degree from East Carolina with a Sport Management concentration in 2022.
