Chowan University Celebrates Faculty and Staff for their Service
On Tuesday, April 28, Chowan University hosted the annual Faculty-Staff Appreciation Recognition Day in McDowell Columns Turner Auditorium. A welcome was given by Director of Human Resources Elizabeth Hedrick, followed by an invocation by Minister to the University, Rev. Mari Wiles. Interim President Charles E. Taylor gave remarks praising the Chowan Community for their service. Following his remarks, the ceremony highlighted years of service, retirements, and staff members of the year awards.

Special acknowledgment was given to Georgia E. Williams as she celebrated 25 years of service. With this recognition, she was inducted into The Order of Lux et Veritas. This honor was established to recognize personnel who have rendered a minimum of 25 years of continuous service to the institution.
The celebration continued by honoring the following retirees: Sherry D. Duncan, Julie W. Emory, Marion Foster, Deborah S. Hinton, James R. Howell, Deborah N. Joyner, John Bernard Vaughan.
The final recognition honored staff members of the year. Julie W. Emory and Kim Sherman Bailey were this year’s recipients.
The service then concluded with a benediction, followed by a luncheon hosted in the Thomas Dining Hall. Please join Chowan University in thanking these recipients and retirees for their faithful service.
