Chowan University Announces 2022 Promotion and Tenure
On Thursday, April 21, 2022, the Chowan University Board of Trustees gathered for its annual spring meeting and voted on tenure and promotion. Tenure is defined as a permanence of position and is a multifaceted process that may take years for professors to achieve if achieved at all. Requirements for tenure include but are not limited to, excelling in the scholarship of teaching, application, integration, and discovery and serving the institution and community.
Shirley Alt, Associate Professor of Psychology was granted tenure. Dr. Alt earned her PhD in Educational Psychology, Learning and Cognition from the University of Minnesota. She teaches an array of psychology courses while serving as president of the faculty senate.
Hunter Taylor, was granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor of Business. Dr. Taylor earned his DBA in Project Management from Liberty University. He teaches several business courses and serves as dean in the School of Business and Design.
Ashley Doane was promoted to Professor of Psychology. Dr. Doane earned her PhD in Applied Experimental Psychology at Old Dominion University. She teaches an array of psychology courses and facilitates Senior Capstones while serving as chair of the Department of Psychology.
