
Chowan Esports Wins MCEA Valorant Fall Championship
The Chowan Esports program claimed their first championship in program history earning the MCEA Valorant Fall Championship after going 4-1 in the playoffs and defeating Clemson in the Grand Finals.
Chowan started off the MCEA Valorant Playoffs with a 13-5 victory over College of Charleston in the Upper Round 1. Bryce Shultz (dustee) led the team with 25 kills and six assists. Dorian May (Astral) contributed 21 kills and four assists.
The Hawks would suffer a 19-17 overtime loss to Clemson in the Upper Semifinals despite Michael Bannister (TensaiFly) leading the team with 27 kills. Caleb Maher (Patty) and Bryce Shultz (dustee) tallied 26 kills each.
The Blue and White rebounded with a 13-6 victory over College of Charleston in the Lower Round 2 match up with Bryce Shultz (dustee) pacing the team with 20 kills and 11 assists. The team followed up the victory with a 13-10 win in the Lower Semifinals against UNC Greensboro getting a 25 kills performance from Michael Bannister (TensaiFly).
The Grand Finals would feature the Hawks and the Clemson Tigers in a best of three match. Chowan would battle to take the opening map 13-10 behind 26 kills by Bryce Shultz (dustee). The Hawks finished off the victory with a 13-8 map victory for the Championship as Bryce Shultz (dustee) tallied 21 kills and Michael Bannister (TensaiFly) notched 20 kills.
Bryce Shultz (dustee) led the team during the playoffs with 141 kills and 63 assists. Michael Bannister (TensaiFly) notched 121 kills and 61 assists. Dorian May (Astral) collected 112 kills and 37 assists, while Caleb Maher (Patty) posted 82 kills with 52 assists, and Nathan Fisk (Arcturus) notched 80 kills and 24 assists.
