CU Women’s Soccer Defeats Barton In 2OT
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team fought back late in the match to come away with a 2-1 victory in double overtime against Barton in a Conference Carolinas contest on Wednesday afternoon.

Chowan received goals from Rebekah Langley and Carolina Lucci.
The Hawks surrendered their first goal at home this season in the 45'.
Chowan outshot the Bulldogs 17-9 but was a slimmer margin on goal at 10-7. The Hawks tallied three shots in overtime compared to one by Barton.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half:
In the back-and-forth action of the first half, Chowan registered two shots on target but was saved by the Bulldog keeper.
Both keepers kept the match a stalemate for the half as neither team had a dangerous attempt at cage.
Barton would find the opening goal of the match in the 45' as the Bulldogs scored off a set piece to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
2nd Half:
The Hawks came out aggressive in the opening minutes of the second half as Carolina Lucci posted a shot on goal but was saved.
The action turned in favor of the Hawks in the 71' as Marissa Speary ripped a shot from the right wing but found the post. In the scrum for the clear, Aliyah Rice was knocked down inside the box giving the Hawks a penalty kick.
Rebekah Langley would net the equalizer on the penalty kick for her first goal of the season.
In the later stages of the half, Carolina Lucci sailed a free kick over the crossbar in the 89'. Lucci would find herself in space with 15 seconds remaining in regulation but the Bulldog keeper sent the match into overtime with the save.
1st Overtime:
The Hawks posted two shots in the overtime period with Mackenzie Imamura's shot being saved. Hope Kohl sent one wide left.
2nd Overtime:
Barton registered a corner kick in the 103' and was unsuccessful finding a Bulldog in the box.
Chowan countered off the corner as Carolina Lucci beat her defender at midfield and raced towards the Bulldog's keeper. Lucci would finish the attempt left post for her 13th goal of the season.
