Two Friends of Music events in one week
The Music Department at Chowan University in conjunction with the Friends of Music Artist Series will host two free concerts the week of September 24, 2017.
At 3:30 pm on Sunday, September 24, Wayne Hedrick, former principal flutist of the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band, will be joined by Chowan’s own, Paula Pressnell, pianist. The concert will include selections from Bach, Mozart, Debussy, and Gaubert among many others.
On Friday, September 29, at 7:30 pm, harpist Colleen Potter Thorburn will be joined by Emily Boyer on French horn. Known as the Apple Orange Pair, the duo is an unusual pairing and, as such, have commissioned numerous works for their unique ensemble. The performance will feature commissioned works the pair has performed in the eastern United States and at various festivals throughout the country.
Both concerts, which are free and open to the community, take place in McDowell Columns Hall, Turner Auditorium. The Music Department at Chowan University welcomes all who enjoy music to attend the concerts and is grateful to the Friends of Music for its support in bringing high caliber performances to the public.
