CHARLOTTE, NC-The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in conjunction with the CIAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association and Sports Information Directors Association announced the CIAA Men's Basketball Player, Newcomer, Rookie, and Coach of the Week on Wednesday morning. Chowan University's Jeremy Smith was recognized as the CIAA Player of the Week.

The Kenansville, North Carolina native scored a game-high 22 points in a 79-67 win over Lenoir-Rhyne on December 30th. He also grabbed seven rebounds in the victory. Smith is currently the Hawks second leading scorer this season, averaging 15.5 points per game. Smith has led the team in scoring in four of the team's 10 outings this season, including a season-high 26 points in an early season non-conference win over Davis & Elkins University. 

Chowan stands 8-2 overall and posts a 3-0 record in CIAA play. They are undefeated at home, standing tall with a 7-0 home court record.
