CU Women’s Basketball Looks to Continue Hot Streak at Wingate
WINGATE, NC – The Chowan University women's basketball program looks to extend their winning streak to four in a row on Thursday night as they travel to play Wingate University in a non-conference match up. Tip off is set for 5:00pm at Cuddy Arena on the campus of Wingate University.
Behind the play of a trio of Hawks scoring in double-figures, the Hawks have jumped out to a 10-2 season record, winning their last three games in row. Jordan Payne leads the way offensively for Chowan, putting up 15.1 points a game. The senior also hauls in 11.8 rebounds per game. Junior Dyhamond Crenshaw comes off the bench to spark the Hawks on both ends of the court. Crenshaw averages 11.0 points a game and has 16 season blocks and 21 season steals. Senior guard Chantel Roberts is putting up 10.3 points a game and 4.7 rebounds per outing.
First-year Head Coach Latoya Jones has been named CIAA Coach of the Week three times this season. Her squad has posted big numbers on the scoreboard this season, averaging nearly 82 points a game. They are also outscoring opponents by 12.7 points per game.
