CHARLOTTE, NC – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in conjunction with the CIAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association and Sports Information Directors Association announced the CIAA Men's Basketball Player, Newcomer, Rookie, and Coach of the Week on Wednesday morning.  Chowan University's head coach,Brett Vincent, has been named CIAA Coach of the Week and guard Kevin Kuteyi has been tabbed CIAA Newcomer of the Week. 

Vincent guided the Hawks squad to a 3-0 week against CIAA South Division opponents. Chowan picked up key cross-divisional victories to improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the CIAA. Currently the Hawks are 6-0 on their home floor under Vincent's direction. 

Transfer senior guard Kevin Kuteyi played a huge role in the Hawks staying undefeated at home and being 3-0 in CIAA play. After being held to just five points in a 62-49 win over Fayetteville State on December 13th, Kuteyi dropped 22 points in a 75-72 win over Shaw on December 17th and 21 points in a 74-61 win over Saint Augustine's on December 17th. 

Vincent and the team will take off this week for Christmas and return to play on December 30th when they play host the Lenior-Rhyne University in a nonconference match up. The Hawks will be looking to defend their perfect home court record (6-0).
