Hawks Place Second at Virginia Union Invitational
RICHMOND, VA – The Chowan University men's cross country team competed in the Virginia Union University Invitational at Bryan Park on Friday evening. The Hawks placed second out of the four teams that competed in the 8k race with a total of 22 runners. Chowan earned a team score of 63.
Kevin Taylor led the way for the Blue and White crossing the finish line with a time of 31:52.1 and placed seventh overall. George Kattan completed the race in 31:58.8 finishing just behind Taylor in eighth place overall. Sadiq Amzat finished with a time of 38:40.3, while Jaylen Gilliam crossed the finish line with a time of 40:49.2. Johnathan Venable also participated in the race and finished with a time of 40:49.2, and rounding out the scoring for the Hawks, Hank Edmonds crossed the finish line in 47:40.5.
Virginia Union, the host team, finished in first place with 15 points. Luis Nieves led the Panthers with a time of 28:59.9 and finished in first place overall. The top five finishers in the race were all from Virginia Union.
