Hawks Rout Patriots
Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's soccer team picked up a 3-0 win over Francis Marion University on Wednesday afternoon. The victory marked the second consecutive win for the Chowan Blue and White.
The Hawks were persistent in their attack over the course of 90 minutes of play. Terell Williamson sparked the momentum for Chowan in the 24th minute of play after beating Francis Marion's goalie one-on-one. Lee Wattam was credited with the assist on the play.
After taking a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break, the Hawks built on the lead in the second half. In the 57th minute of play, Wattam sent a through ball to Williamson, leading to a breakaway goal for Chowan.
Holding a 2-0 advantage, the Hawks pulled away 3-0 less than ten minutes later when Wattam found the back of the net using a through ball from Denis Roule.
The Hawks recorded 18 shots on the day led by Williamson with six shots, Wattam with five, and Paul Migliarina with four shots. Carlos Ramirez made four saves over the course of the shutout win.
Francis Marion totaled eight shots in the loss led by Lee Northfield and Harrison Smith who accounted for two shots apiece. Jonathon Mannes notched five saves in the loss for the Patriots.
Chowan returns to action on Saturday as the Hawks square off against the University of Charleston (WV). Game time is slated for 3:30pm.
