Hawks Finish in Third at the Virginia Union Invitational, Tackett Runs Personal Best

RICHMOND, VA  – The Chowan University women's cross country team competed in the Virginia Union University Invitational at Bryan Park in Richmond, Virginia on Friday evening.  The Hawks finished third place out of the four teams that competed in the 5k race with a total of 25 runners. The Hawks finished with a team score of 76.
 
Ashley Tackett led the Hawks crossing the finish line with a personal best of 21:20.4. Tackett finished in fourth place overall, followed by Anna Makhneva who finished in 15th place at the 25:05.2 mark. Kaila Hardin crossed the finish line in 26:48.8 and right behind Hardin, Chasity Henderson completed the 5k in 26:57.8.  Natalia Andrade also competed in the race and crossed the finish line at the 27:11.9 mark rounding out the scoring for the Blue and White.
 
The host team, Virginia Union, finished in first place with 22 points.  Finishing in first place individually was Imani Jackson who led the Panthers with a time of 21:05.3. The individuals placing second, third and fifth place were also from Virginia Union.

Elizabeth City State – 86
 
Chowan returns to action on September 24th when they travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete in the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational.
