Beal’s Hat-Trick Propels Hawks past Lady Lions
Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's soccer team downed Lincoln University (PA) 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks improve to 2-4 on the season with the win while the Lady Lions move to 1-4 on the year with the setback. Saturday's win marked the first time since the 2012 season that Chowan has earned two winsin one year.
Less than three minutes into the contest, Rebekah Beal put the Hawks on the board, scoring a breakaway goal to give Chowan an early 1-0 lead. Beal struck again in the 32ndminute, finding the back of the net using a cross from Harriett Pallet.
After taking a 2-0 lead into the halftime break, Beal took advantage of a rebound off the post to score her third goal of the contest at the 53:59 mark. Less than ten minutes later,Kimberly Surio sent the ball high over the keeper's reach to give Chowan a commanding 4-0 lead. Beal was credited with the assist on the play.
Lincoln (PA) was unable to answer back, handing the Hawks the 4-0 victory.
Chowan recorded 21 shots in the win with Mackenzie Imamura and Surio each notching five shots in the contest. Beal added four shots for the Chowan Blue and White with Pallet notching three. Olivia Borer made three saves in goal in the shutout win.
The Lady Lions tallied four shots in the setback. Tamara Greene led the effort with two shots. Lena Rodriguez collected 10 saves in goal.
The Hawks return to action on September 21st. Chowan squares off against Erskine College in a 3pm contest on Hawks Field.
