Kolezynski Named CIAA Sports Information Director of the Year
CHARLOTTE, NC – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) held its annual Spring General Assembly Meeting and End-of-Year Awards Reception in Charlotte, NC on May 16. Athletics administration representatives from each of the CIAA's twelve member institutions joined members of the conference office for the recognition of more than twenty conference awards. Allie Kolezynski, CU's Assistant Athletic Director for Business and Athletic Communications, took home her second CIAA of the Year Award. She first won the award in 2014.
"Allie is very deserving of this award," stated Ozzie McFarland, CU's Vice President for Athletics. "She works tirelessly to ensure equity in promoting all sports at Chowan. She is a vital employee of our department and an excellent ambassador for our university."
Kolezynski, Chowan University's Assistant Athletic Director & Director of Athletic Communications, was selected for her second Sports Information Director of the Year honor by the CIAA SID Association (SIDA). In addition to highlighting the Hawks' four championship titles (baseball, golf, men's tennis, women's tennis), she is recognized by her peers for the consistent positive coverage of Chowan's 18 varsity sports and dependability in providing meaningful communication with her sports information colleagues for each contest. Kolezynski currently serves as the Vice President of CIAA-SIDA and is an active member of the Division II National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Kolezynski just wrapped up her fourth year at Chowan University. In addition to her duties as Assistant Athletic Director at Chowan, she served as the Head Women's Cross Country Coach for two seasons.
"Allie serves Chowan and the CIAA in many capacities and excels in all of them," said Meredith Long, Deputy Athletic Director at Chowan University. "She is in constant pursuit of excellence in her field. She continues to grow professionally each year and we are very fortunate to have her in our ranks."
Professionally, Kolezynski is a member of CoSIDA, CIAA-SIDA, BC-SIDA, NCCSIA, and NACWAA. She is also a member of the CIAA Softball and Volleyball Championship Committees. Recently she was named to the Chowan Softball Fence of Fame where her number was symbolically retired. She graduated from Chowan in May of 2012, with a degree in Business Administration and earned a MBA from Cleveland State University in July of 2013. She currently oversees all business transactions for the athletic department and all facets of the athletic communications department.
Kolezynski noted, "It is very rewarding to promote the achievements and accomplishments of Chowan student-athletes while contributing to a successful athletic department. I appreciate the opportunity to develop as an athletic administrator under strong, passionate leaders here at Chowan and learn from my colleagues in the CIAA".
She is a native of Strongsville, Ohio and currently resides in Murfreesboro.
