President Thomas Speaks at Murfreesboro Chamber Banquet
On the 30th of April 2024, Chowan University was strongly represented at the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet by staff, alumni, trustees, and students. Chowan University was one of the many entities celebrated as economic powerhouses in the town and region. University President Dr. Rosemary Thomas provided remarks focusing on the importance of Chowan’s continued integration with the town, student employment opportunities, and her personal experiences transitioning into life within the walls of Murfreesboro, NC.
Chamber President and Chowan University alum Cliff Forbes, accompanied by Daryl Williams, Executive Director for the Chamber, both publicly announced the newly established Bynum R. Brown Chamber Internship Award that will facilitate a Chowan University student as an intern for the chamber for the 2024/25 academic year.
The Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to business growth and the enhancement of Murfreesboro, NC, with relentless aspirations and programs of social and economic development organized in committee form. Chowan University students Elizabeth Heller, Patrick Sullivan, and Abigail Sutton were given the opportunity to network with the crowd of business leaders and practice essential networking skills that our new curriculum endorses. In her remarks, Dr. Rosemary Thomas paid tribute to the high volume of Chowan University alumni in attendance and extended her gratitude to the chamber for inviting her to present alongside Mr. Craig Dennis, Town Council member, Mr. Andre Lassiter, Hertford County Commissioner, and Dr. Jesse Pratt, Superintendent for Hertford County Public Schools.
