Alumna Qeashaunda Johnson ‘18 Returns to Campus to Inspire Accounting Students
Chowan University welcomed back Qeashaunda Johnson, a member of the class of 2018, on April 18th. Johnson, currently serving as a Senior Consultant/Forensic Accountant within Risk & Financial Advisory at Deloitte, spoke to accounting students and shared her journey at Chowan and beyond. From the uncertainty in choosing a major to the invaluable support she received from Chowan’s faculty, Johnson ultimately led to her successful career with her degree in business and accounting.
During her visit, Johnson addressed Professor Williams’ auditing students, emphasizing the importance of exploring different perspectives and utilizing available resources to find one’s career path. She highlighted her own experience of discovering various job opportunities within her field and how her internship with the FBI, done during her summer and senior year at Chowan, played a pivotal role in shaping her professional trajectory. Mrs. Williams adds, “Qeashaunda is an outstanding ambassador for Chowan’s accounting program. From taking the initiative to pursue an internship with the FBI while a student to accepting her latest promotion with Deloitte, she has always taken the initiative to do more than is required to reach her goals.”
“Being back at Chowan felt like a breath of fresh air that I didn’t know I needed. Remembering the late nights in the library, gracious friendships, and the hard work it took to get me where I am… It felt like coming home,” expressed Johnson.
The dedication of the professors and the eagerness of alumni to engage with current students serves as a reminder for students to make the most of the resources available to them. Chowan University continues to prioritize the holistic development of its students, equipping them with the necessary life skills and knowledge to excel in their chosen fields.
