Chowan Recognizes Students at 2024 Awards Day Convocation

Apr 24, 2024 by Staff Reports

Chowan University held its 2024 Awards Day Convocation on April 17, 2024, in Turner Auditorium, McDowell Columns Hall. This momentous occasion served as a platform to honor and recognize the outstanding accomplishments of students throughout the 2023-24 academic year bringing together students, faculty, and staff, and highlighting the profound purpose of a university.

President Rosemary M. Thomas commenced the program by delivering an inspiring address, drawing from Max Lucado’s work, “Cure for the Common Life.” Quoting from Lucado’s book, she emphasized the uniqueness of each individual, stating, “You are the only you God made. He made you and broke the mold…” President Thomas further expressed her admiration for the students’ achievements, citing the iconic words of Dr. Seuss, who famously proclaimed, “Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” She concluded her speech by urging students to always strive to be the best version of themselves, emphasizing that the Awards Day Convocation is a testament to their exceptionalism.

The 2024 Awards Day Convocation served as a platform to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of Chowan University’s students across various disciplines.
