Cecil Hollomon Named Vice Chair of Chowan University’s Board of Trustees
Chowan University’s Board of Trustees has named Cecil Hollomon as the Vice Chair, effective January 1. Hollomon, having been recognized as a distinguished alumni of the university, attended the university following in his family’s footsteps to pursue a degree in Business. After graduating with the class of 1968, he obtained a BS and MS and dedicated 38 years of his life as a middle school counselor in the pursuit of empowering students to pursue their own personal and educational goals.
Chowan University has been a resounding echo in Hollomon’s lineage, with generations of his family members finding their future success on Chowan’s campus. The clear passion for the university, intertwined indefinitely with Hollomon’s dedication to investing in the students that will become our future, will no doubt ensure that Hollomon will continue to support the success of our students. With Chowan’s Life Skills core, the emphasis on student success is an indelible focus that requires full support of all involved. Hollomon’s dedication to “investing in the young people” that will create the future workforce is the ideal mindset as we rally to create future-proof skills for our graduates.
In his free time, Hollomon does his best to do his civic duty. He works to keep busy in his community, volunteering in the Powellsville Fire Department to assist in maintaining an organized workplace, and still finding the time to serve in both Powellsville Baptist Church as well as Powellsville Methodist Church. When he is able to find the time to relax, he enjoys maintaining the yard, gardening, and entertaining his family in their family home.
We are pleased to have Cecil Hollomon take on the position of Vice Chair on our university Board of Trustees and look forward to all of the efforts he will undoubtedly make to ensure the success of the graduates of Chowan University.
