Chowan University Congratulates Carl Nicely on Retirement
After eleven years at Chowan University, Carl Nicely, PC Technician, and his infamous clipboard are retiring. He has faithfully served the university and its employees, saving the day for many who called him in to fix their computers and printers.
Carl shared with faculty and staff via email that “it has been a fun and enjoyable eleven years,” and he has enjoyed working with them. He also lightheartedly noted that he would no longer have to keep track of where his clipboard is, and neither will they. Anytime you would see Carl on campus, you saw him carrying a clipboard, and oftentimes, it may have mistakenly been left behind in an office where he was making repairs or updating software.
While we presume that the infamous clipboard will retire to a shelf at home, Carl plans to spend his retirement enjoying time with his wife. He plans to catch up on his projects around the house and take on a few new ones as well as start a new endeavor in creating a WordPress site where he will share Bible study videos for friends near and far. As a creative outlet, Carl plans to occasionally create memes for fun and post them on social media.
Jay Howell, Assistant Vice President of Information Technology, shared that he has “enjoyed working with Carl these last 11 years. He has been a valuable asset to the university and the IT department, and I wish him all the best in his retirement as he will be missed.”
Please join Chowan University in congratulating Carl on his retirement and thanking him for his years of service!
