Hawks Women’s Tennis Clinch Victory in Final Pairing

The Chowan Women's Tennis team grabbed their first conference victory 4-3, over Southern Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks advance to 1-10 overall and 1-4 in the league.

RECORDS | Chowan 1-10 (1-4), Southern Wesleyan 1-9 (0-4)

LOCATION | Central, S.C.

ON THE COURTS
In Doubles:
Southern Wesleyan picked up the No.1 doubles match 6-3 over Cynthia Carrier and Arina Karbolina. 

The Hawks recovered at the No.2 doubles with Julieta Lecce and Angelique Gouin who beat the Warriors 6-2 for the win.

Southern Wesleyan led the Hawks 1-0 into singles play after taking the No.3 doubles by default from Chowan.

In Singles:
By a default from the Hawks, Southern Wesleyan claimed the No.6 singles.

Cynthia Carrier secured the 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No.1 singles match for the Blue and White.

Claire Revelle fell 6-0, 6-0 at the No.5 singles position, before Julieta Lecce won the No.3 singles 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 over her opponent.

At the No.4 singles match, Angelique Gouin beat her opponent 6-1, 6-1 to tie the Hawks and Warriors 3-3 in the match.

It was the No.2 singles left on the court, Arina Karbolina picked up the first set 6-4, her Southern Wesleyan opponent grabbed the second set 4-6, before Karbolina fought for the 6-4 tiebreaker win to put the Hawks ahead and win the 4-3 match.
