On Friday, March 22 at 4 pm in Vaughan Auditorium, the William Bradley Salon Lecture Series will present a poetry reading featuring the work of Jennifer Newhouse, chair of the English department and Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Chowan University.

Newhouse has been published in dozens of literary magazines, journals, and chapbooks and was recently selected by the North Carolina Poetry Society (NCPS) to take part in the Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet Series. As a student, she received the Fred Chappell Fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) – their highest award for graduate writers – where she earned the MFA in creative writing. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, the North Carolina Poetry Society, and the Association of Writers and Writing Programs.

The Salon is an interdisciplinary lecture series based on the idea of enriching minds beyond department curriculum in an informal and comfortable environment. Held monthly, each 30-45 minute lecture is presented by a member of the faculty in the hopes of fostering discussion and debate across multiple fields of study.

The lecture series is free and open to the community.
