Chowan University Music Department to present Piano Recital
The Chowan University Department of Music will continue its Friends of Music Artist Series Sunday, March 3, at 3:00 p.m. in Turner Auditorium of McDowell Columns Hall with a recital featuring pianist Dr. Deborah Kiszely-Papp.
Kiszely-Papp, Assistant Professor of Music, will perform Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, Mozart’s Sonata in A Major, Liszt’s Années de Pèleringage, Bartók’s Three Folksongs from the County of Csik, and Dohnányi’s Ruralia Hungarica. An active performer and lecture-recitalist, Kiszely-Papp has collaborated with renowned artists in Europe and throughout the United States.
Kiszely-Papp earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from the City University of New York where she studied piano with Herbert Stessin. She completed her Master of Music degree as a student of György Sándor at The Juilliard School. Her Bachelor of Music degree is from the New England Conservatory of Music.
Kiszely-Papp taught piano and chamber music, and worked as a collaborative pianist at The Juilliard School, Queens College, Gonzaga University, and Whitworth College. She was chosen as a teaching artist for the Lincoln Center Institute and a collaborative pianist for the Aspen Music Festival. She worked as a collaborative artist at the Interlochen Arts Festival and at the Académie Musicale de Morges, Switzerland.
