9/14 12:00pm update: Chowan University will reopen on Monday, September 17th. Classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. Offices will open at 8:30 a.m.

Residential students may return to campus beginning Sunday, September 16. STUDENTS WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO RESIDENTIAL HALLS UNTIL SUNDAY.

Chowan administration looks forward to the safe return to campus of all members of the University community. Before starting the return drive, students should check road conditions.

9/13 2:00pm update: Due to Hurricane Florence, Chowan University classes are canceled until further notice.

The University closed for business Thursday, September 13th at 2 pm and anticipates reopening Monday, September 17th at 8:30 am. Staff members identified as key essential personnel will assist on campus during the storm and assist with auxiliary operations to serve our remaining students.

The University will continue monitoring Hurricane Florence and will share updates regarding the reopening of the campus and the resumption of classes as they develop.

9/10 4:45pm update: Effective at 5 p.m., Tuesday, September 11th, Chowan University classes are canceled until further notice.

All Chowan University staff will report to work on Wednesday, September 12th and Thursday, September 13th. A decision regarding the rest of the week will be made at a later time.

Additional information for the evacuation of students has been communicated via email. Students must continue to monitor their emails.

9/10 11am update: Chowan University is closely monitoring the potential impact of Hurricane Florence in partnership with local and state agencies. As the storm’s track becomes more apparent, the University will send updates via Chowan email, the CUHawkAlert System, as well as postings on the University website. We will do our best to post updates on social media as well. If you have a student at the University, ask them to log into their CUHawkAlert account to add you as a recipient of our alerts!
