Chowan University welcomes six new staff members. Devin Britt, Brianna Cooper, Kyle Davison, Alyssa Fairless, Stephanie Peede, and Crystal Powell recently joined the Chowan staff. 

Devin Britt of Severn, NC, joined the Financial Aid Office as Administrative Assistant. He holds an associate degree in applied science with a major in business administration from Halifax Community College. While a student, he worked at First Media Radio as an on-air personality and show host. In his current role, he helps students navigate the financial aid process and provides scholarship information. 

Brianna Cooper of Seaboard, NC, also joined the Financial Aid Office as Financial Aid Counselor. Cooper, a Chowan alumna, earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration. She gained four years of experience in the Financial Aid Office as a student employee. Cooper works with the federal work-study program to match students with departments for employment throughout the school year.

Kyle Davison of Durham, NC, joined the staff as Jenkins Center Coordinator and Head Resident of Parker Hall. Also a Chowan alumnus, Davison earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management with minors in coaching and accounting. He has nine years of experience as a swim coach and has managed several aquatic facilities in the Durham area. He manages day-to-day operations of the Jenkins Center and is the Area Director for Parker Hall.

Alyssa Fairless of Colerain, NC, joined Academic Affairs as Assistant to the Registrar. A Chowan alumna, she earned her Bachelor of Science in business administration. In her position, she assists students by processing degree audits, drop/add courses, change of major, and other tasks associated with academic records.

Stephanie Peede of Trap, NC, joined the staff as Administrative Assistant to the Chancellor. Peede earned her associate degree in office administration from Pitt Community College. She too is a Chowan alumna with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She is pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in writing at Lindenwood University. Peede previously worked in the Registrar’s Office at Chowan. In her current position, she assists the Chancellor with administrative tasks.

Crystal Powell of Ahoskie, NC, joined the Admissions Office as Assistant Director of Admissions for the Adult Degree Completion Program and the School of Graduate Studies. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Carolina A&T State University, and her master’s from Liberty University in Human Services Counseling. Powell worked in the Financial Aid Office as an undergraduate employee, sparking her interest in admissions. Powell spreads awareness of the Adult Degree Completion Program (ADCP) and encourages current ADCP students to become involved in the activities Chowan offers students.
