The Department of Music at Chowan University Announces Spring Concerts
MURFREESBORO, NC – April brings a host of performances from the Music Department at Chowan University. Hop into the spring season with the Department of Music at one of these upcoming events.
Thursday, April 19, 7:30 PM in Turner Auditorium of the McDowell Columns Hall, the Chowan Wind Ensemble, with the Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Woodwind Ensemble will perform a concert of 20th and 21st century music. The concert will end with a new work composed by Dr. Christopher Cook, Assistant Professor of Music at Chowan University. The work is for recorded electronics and wind ensemble. The concert is free and open to the public.
Saturday, April 21, 7:30 PM in Turner Auditorium of the McDowell Columns Hall, the Chowan University Spring Choral Concert, under the direction of Dr. Benjamin Thorburn, will feature the Chowan Singers, Men’s Chorus, Show Choir, and Community Chorus. They will present a variety of choral favorites, and end with Gabriel Fauré’s beautiful Requiem for Chorus and String Orchestra. The concert is free and open to the public.
Sunday, April 22, 3:00 PM at the Suffolk Cultural Arts Center, 110 W. Finney Avenue, Suffolk, VA 23434, there will be a repeat of the Chowan University Spring Choral Concert. Seating is reserved, for ticket information please contact the Suffolk Cultural Arts Center at 757-923-2900.
