Jan 23, 2018 by Staff Reports

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced on Tuesday morning the Week #10 CIAA Men's and Women's Basketball Players and Coach of the Week honors.

Mariah Coker, Gus Rowland, and Coach LaToya Jones were honored this week for their accomplishments.

Mariah Coker was named CIAA Player of the Week for the second time this season after posting 21 points and seven assists against regionally ranked Virginia State over the weekend.  Coker knocked down four triples in the contest and notched a block.

Gus Rowland earned his third CIAA Rookie of the Week nod and second straight posting 19.0 points and 3.0 assists a game as the Hawks split their two contests.  Rowland scored a career-high 22 points in a winning effort against non-conference opponent North Greenville.  Rowland hit the game-winner in overtime against the Crusaders.  The Richmond, Va. native chipped in with 16 points against #16 Virginia State.

Coach LaToya Jones adds her third CIAA Coach of the Week after guiding the Hawks to a 65-61 victory over regionally ranked Virginia State.  Jones and company handed the Trojans their second straight loss to keep the Hawks tied atop the CIAA Northern Division at 2-0.
