CU Women’s Soccer Locks Up Two Seed With Win Over UMO
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team locked up the number two seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Mount Olive in league action on Tuesday afternoon on the road.

Carolina Lucci posted her 18th and 19th goals of the season to lead the Hawks.
Olivia Borer and the Hawks shut down the Trojans offense limiting them to three shots, two on frame. All of the Trojan's shots came in the first half. Borer records her 11th shutout of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half:
Carolina looked to get the Hawks on the board early as the freshman ripped a shot just 53 seconds into the match but was saved by the Trojan keeper.
Olivia Borer denied the first attempt by the Trojans in the 15' forcing a corner kick.
Mackenzie Imamura looked to break the tie in the 17' but was denied.
Chowan had chances midway through the half as Hope Kohl sailed a shot high, followed by Sierra Gonzalez' shot being saved and Rebekah Langley missing to the right.
Neither team was able to score in the opening half.
2nd Half:
The scoreless draw didn't last long as Carolina Lucci posted her 18th goal of the season in the 52'. Lucci beat her defender and found the back of the net in the 1v1 matchup with the keeper.
In the 57', Carolina Lucci made it 2-0 after her initial attempt bounced off the post and back to her foot finding the far post for the goal.
Off a free kick from 30-yds out, Sierra Gonzalez looked to strike from distance but the attempt was saved in the 77'.
Two minutes later, Karissa Grooms recorded a shot on frame but the Trojan keeper kept the attempt out of the back of the net.

Chowan hosts Belmont Abbey on Friday, October 27 in the final match of the regular season. Kick-off is slated for 3pm.
