Hawks Men’s Soccer Defeats NGU, 3-0
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer team continued their winning ways as the Hawks handed North Greenville a 3-0 shutout loss in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon.

James Scott, Lee Wattam and Erik Ruiz notched goals for the Hawks in the win.

Elliot Chadderton posted his fifth shutout of the season and picked up five saves in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half:
The Hawks scored quickly in the match as Chowan grabbed a corner kick in the 7'. Mitchell Levi Lewis took the short corner kick passing to Mike Dowling sending the cross into the box. The crossing attempt found the shin of James Scott for the 1-0 lead.
Chowan continued to push forward grabbing shots from Denis Roule, Lee Wattam, Mike Dowling, and Jamie McNicholas.
North Greenville had two chances in the 32' as Elliot Chadderton sent a NGU attempt over the bar. The ensuing corner kick found the head of a Crusader but was once again denied by Chadderton.
The Hawks notched their second goal of the match in the 38' as Lee Wattam found himself on a breakaway in the box after beating his defender. Wattam played the volley slotting the attempt low and to the far post for his fifth goal of the season.
2nd Half:
Chowan pressured the NGU keeper in the early portion of the half grabbing shots by Lee Wattam, Paul Migliarinaand Barkan Koeprueluegil.
The attack paid off in the 61' as Erik Ruiz took the ball away inside the box on the left wing. Ruiz would finish to the far post for his first collegiate goal and handed the Hawks a 3-0 advantage.
NGU looked to wipe away the clean sheet in the later stages of regulation, but Elliot Chadderton denied both attempts.
