CU Women’s Soccer Shutouts Out NGU At Home
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team notched their eighth shutout of the season as the Hawks defeated North Greenville 2-0 in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

NOTABLES
Chowan tied the DII program record for wins in a single season. The 2017 season ties the win total from the DII record season set in 2016 as the Hawks went 8-6-2. The all-time program mark is nine wins set in 2011 and 2004. Chowan is 4-0-1 at home this season allowing only one goal.
Mackenzie Imamura was honored before the match for Senior Day.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Conference Carolinas leader in goals and points, Carolina Lucci, added to her total with her 14th goal and an fourth assist on the season in the win.
Mackenzie Imamura notched her second goal of the season and fourth assist on the year. Sabrina Hendersonrecorded an assist on the afternoon.
Olivia Borer recorded her eighth shutout of the season and denied four shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half:
Hope Kohl registered the first shot of the contest for either side but was saved by the NGU keeper.
The Hawks' second shot of the early going was not saved as Sabrina Henderson played a ball through the midfield to Mackenzie Imamura. Imamura would continue the pass up to Carolina Lucci at the top of the box where Lucci chipped the keeper for the 1-0 lead in the 8' of action.
North Greenville was anxious to get the tally back to level as the Crusaders were caught for six offsides in the first half.
Mackenzie Imamura registered the final shot for the Hawks in the 29' but was saved.
2nd Half:
To start the second half, Marissa Speary nearly gave the Hawks a two goal advantage but her heading attempt missed to the left.
In the 52', Hope Kohl's initial shot was blocked by the Crusader's defense. The ball squirted away to Carolina Luccion the left wing playing the ball back into the middle of the box finding Mackenzie Imamura wide open for the 2-0 lead.
The Hawks back line of Ashlyn Smith, Shannon Park, Sydney Henderson, and Asia Fort kept the Crusader offense at bay not allowing a dangerous look at goal all afternoon.
