Dre Terry Named CIAA Rookie of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced on Tuesday morning CIAA Football Players and Coach of the Week for Week Four of the 2017 season.
Freshman linebacker, Dre Terry, was named CIAA Rookie of the Week for the second straight week. Terry, a Roanoke Rapids native, recorded 11 tackles and a sack during the Hawks 10-7 victory over the Golden Bulls of JCSU. Terry was a huge part in limiting JCSU to 100 total yards of offense.
Last week, Terry recorded a career-high 13 tackles and a sack in the 22-15 win over Livingstone. Chowan has picked up four CIAA Rookie of the Week honors with the first two going to Bryce Witt.
Nate Wyche is tied for second in the nation with 1.6 sacks per game and tied for second with 8.0 total sacks. Michael Offutt Jr. produced the fourth most all-purpose yards in a single contest with his 346 yards against Livingstone.
The Hawks as a team is second in the nation in passing yards allowed per game at 97.0 in front of CIAA foe Bowie State at 103.0. Chowan is fourth in fewest passing yards allowed with 27 against JCSU last week.
