Hawks Men’s Soccer Upsets #12 Lees-McRae
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer team upset #12 ranked Lees-McRae, 3-2, in overtime in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Toby Sims, Denis Roule, and Terell Williamson found the back of the net for the Hawks.
Lee Wattam, Mitchell Levi Lewis, and Ben Chapman tallied an assist.
Elliot Chadderton posted four saves in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half
Lees-McRae scored early in the first half to put the pressure on the Hawks. The Bobcats grabbed the early 1-0 lead in the 13' as LMC scored on a back heel flick by Luis Jimenez finding Palle Jespersen in space for the goal.
Chowan pushed forward late as Lee Wattam and Terell Williamson had shots blocked in the 41'.
Denis Roule had a chance in the 43' but his shot was just right of the post.
LMC went into the locker room leading 1-0.
2nd Half
Chowan went on the attack to start the second half as the Hawks found the equalizer in the 48'. Mitchell Levi Lewis played a ball across the face of the goal and found the boot of Denis Roule on the left side slotting the ball near post to knot things at 1-all.
In the 51', Terell Williamson's shot was blocked and found the boot of Denis Roule again but his shot slid just outside the post.
Chowan continued their attack two minutes later as Denis Roule found space amongst the congestion but a diving save kept the ball out of the back of the net.
Paul Migliarina recorded a dangerous shot in the 65' as the shot ricocheted off the keeper's chest and out of harms way.
Lees-McRae posted a scoring chance in the 78' as a free-kick cleared out found another LMC striker but easily saved by Elliot Chadderton.
In the 87', LMC found the potential game-winner as the initial Bobcat shot was blocked but found a wide-open Bobcat finding the back of the net.
With 1.3 second left in regulation, Lee Wattam ripped a shot towards the cage and bounced up to Toby Sims inside the box. Sims headed the ball over the keeper's head for the equalizer.
1st Overtime
In the 95', Chowan had a free-kick near midfield taken by Carl Kennedy. Kennedy sent a ball into the box but was unable to find the solid boot.
Mitchell Levi Lewis looked to find the back of the net in the 97' but the LMC keeper saw the shot into his hands for the save.
Jamie McNicholas ripped a shot that bounced off the cross bar and found the foot of Ben Chapman. Chapman slotted the ball back to Terell Williamson in the middle of the box finding the back of the net for the game-winner.

Chowan hosts Newberry on Tuesday, September 26 in a non-conference contest. Kick-off is slated for 4pm.
