CU Women’s Soccer Grounds Fleet In Overtime
DUE WEST, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team needed only 38 seconds in the overtime period to send the Hawks home victorious as Chowan remained unbeaten on the season in a 2-1 win over Conference Carolinas foe on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks are off to their best start in program history.

Carolina Lucci records three points on the afternoon scoring the game-winning goal and tallying an assist.
Ashlyn Smith netted her first collegiate goal in the 24' of play. Mackenzie Imamura posted an assist in the win.
The Hawks back-line and goal keeper Olivia Borer has kept the ball out of the net for a program record 484:37 before Erskine scored the equalizer.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half
Chowan went on the attack early to start the contest recording two shots and two corners in the first five minutes of play. Carolina Lucci tallied the first shot of the contest just 2:39 into the match forcing a save and a corner kick.
Both teams battled for possession as Chowan continued to keep the ball on the offensive side of the field. The Hawks earned a corner kick with 23:27 into the match. Carolina Lucci curled a ball into the scoring area and found Ashlyn Smith for the goal to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
The Hawks went into the half leading 1-0.
2nd Half
The second half featured a back-and-forth style of play as Erskine looked for the equalizer.
After nearly 500 minutes of play the Hawks defense allowed a goal in the 82' as the Fleet found the equalizer.
Chowan pushed forward to find the go-ahead goal in regulation as Carolina Lucci sent one towards cage but was denied and earned a corner kick.
The Hawks were unable to find the game-winner in regulation as Chowan and Erskine moved to overtime knotted up at 1-1.
Overtime
The Hawks started off with the overtime kick-off and forced the attack forward. Mackenzie Imamura played the pass forward to Carolina Lucci, who found the back of the net for the fifth time this season, for the game-winner.
UP NEXT
Chowan returns home to host Conference Carolinas foe Lees-McRae in a league match. The Bobcats are 1-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the league standings. Kick-off is slated for 12pm.
