CU Softball: Hawks Take Two from Lincoln in Last Regular Season Games of the Year
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LINCOLN, PA – The Chowan University softball team improved their overall record to 32-18 after posting two wins over Lincoln University on Monday morning. The Hawks posted 36 hits over 10 innings to win game one 17-0 and game two 15-0. The Hawks finished up the regular season with Monday's games and six student-athletes played their final regular season game in the CU Blue and White. The Hawks posted a 14-2 conference record and 9-1 divisional record in 2017.
Kayla Robins pitched a no-hitter to secure her 20th win of the season. Robins tallied 11 strikeouts to run her season total to 306. Chowan had five players garner multiple hit games and tallied 16 total hits in the first game. Chowan posted 10 runs in their first inning of play, back on Saturday. Play was suspended due to weather and the two teams picked up play again on Mondaymorning. Katrina Simmons and Emily Stafford were both a perfect 3-3 at the plate after game one. Stafford belted a homerun and accounted for five runs batted in. Brook Bowen, Brittany Parson, and Robins each tallied two hits each in the game. Parson also posted her 9th homerun of the season.
Audrey Hubbard threw a one hit, shut out to pick up her second win of the year. Hubbard struck out seven Lincoln batters and gave up just one hit in the 15-0 win. As a team, the Hawks pounded out 16 hits and were led by Simmons and Parson who finished up 2-2. Danielle Baccus and Haley Cooper both wrapped up game two 2-4. Baccus knocked in four runs in the win. Lindsey Stigler posted a 2-3 plate performance.
The Hawks finished the regular season 32-18, besting their 2016 win total of 29. They will gear up for final exams and then the CIAA Softball Championship being played May 4th-6th in Petersburg, Virginia at the Petersburg Sportsplex.
