CHARLOTTE, NC – Head Coach Brian DeWitt and sophomore catcher Haley Cooper have garnered weekly CIAA Softball honors after going 4-0 in CIAA Northern Division play over the weekend. 

DeWitt helped lead his band of Hawks to a 4-0 weekend with wins over Virginia State University on Saturday, April 8th and Virginia Union University on Sunday, April 9th. Chowan currently sits atop of the CIAA Northern Division at 11-1 in league play and 6-0 in divisional play. They are 28-16 overall. 

Cooper was named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after posting big numbers behind the plate for the Hawks in four wins over the weekend. Cooper caught all four games for the Hawks and called every pitch for the Hawks pitching staff in the wins. She helped to account for 25 putouts and four assists from the catchers position. She also caught one of two runners stealing over the weekend.
