Chowan’s Kayla Robins Throws No Hitter in Win over Shaw
Box Score ETTRICK, VA – Senior Kayla Robins pitched a near perfect game in an 8-0 win over Shaw University on Wednesday afternoon. Robins threw five innings and struck out seven batters. The Hawks improved to 22-16 overall and 5-1 in the CIAA after Wednesday's win.
Chowan scored three runs in the top of the third inning when Haley Cooper and Danielle Baccus tallied back-to-back doubles. Brittany Parsons followed those doubles up with a triple to help Chowan get a 3-0 lead. They added five more runs in the top of the 5th highlighted by an Emily Stafford three-run triple.
Chowan was led offensively by Cooper who ended the game 3-4. Stafford was 2-3 with three runs batted in.
Robins picked up her 14th win of the season and broke her single season strikeout record (232). She currently leads all of NCAA D2 in strikeouts with 233 on the year.
The Hawks will play again on Saturday, April 1st at 12:00pm against CIAA Northern Division opponent Elizabeth City State University.
