Chowan Men’s Golf Takes 2nd Place at CIAA Northern Divisional Tournament
SNOW HILL, NC – The Chowan University men's golf team completed the second and final round of play at the CIAA Northern Divisional Tournament on Tuesday afternoon. Chowan hosted the tournament at the Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill, North Carolina, a 72 Par and 6,849 yards course. The Hawks finished in 2nd place out of the 8 teams that competed in the tournament.
Chowan finished round two of play with a team score of 307 securing a two-day total of 612, just one stroke short (611) of the winning team, Virginia Union University. Livingstone College grabbed third place after they shot 316 on the second day of play and totaled 630 as a team.
Chowan's Billy Britton took home second place after he shot a 77 in round two and finished with a two-day total of 149. Jordan Francis turned in a score 75 and tied for 3rd with a 150 two-day score. Steven Rhinard finished the tournament tied for 15th with a two-day score of 159 after posting an 85 on Tuesday. Christian Fleetwood finished with a two-day total of 161, good enough to tie for 19th place. Fleetwood shot a 77 on Tuesday, shaving seven strokes off his first round (84). Rich Edwards carded a 78 on Tuesday, shaving seven strokes off his Monday score (85) and placed 21st for Chowan.
Playing as an individual Dale Davis shot a 77 for the Hawks to finish tied for 13th while, Tyler Pittman carded an 83 and took 28th. Darren Peoples also competed for the Blue and White scoring a 82 and placed 32nd in the tournament.
The Hawks return to action on March 30th through April 2nd when they travel to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to compete in the Marine Federal/Camp Lejeune Invitational.
