MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University men's tennis team grabbed a 9-0 win over Virginia Union University on home court of the Rose Family Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks improve to 7-6 on the year with the CIAA match up. 

At the number one doubles position, Farid Hajizada and Adi Kaliakperov beat Lamar Richardson and Sonnie Bost 8-0, while Antony Jones and Kareem Burrows fell to Mateusz Izycki and Mariano Yeh 8-0 in the number two doubles match. CU's Rafael Goncalves and Louis Proulx secured the number three doubles by a forfeit from the Rams.

Chowan lead Virginia Union 3-0 heading into singles competition.

Kaliakperov picked up the number one singles match 6-1, 6-0 for Chowan over Richardson, while Hajizada won the number two singles play 6-0, 6-1 over Bost. Virginia Union's Jones fell to Goncalves 6-0, 6-1 in the third singles position, before Louis Proulx beat Burrows in the number four singles 6-1, 6-0. Enrique Barge earned the fifth singles victory 6-0, 6-0 over Fanate Marr, while Yeh grabbed the sixth singles win by a forfeit from the Rams.

The Hawks hit home court again on Wednesday, March 22nd for a make-up match against Averett University. Match slated for 4:00pm
