CU Men’s Golf: Hawks Finish in 3rd Place at CIAA Southern Divisional Tournament
CHINA GROVE, NC – The Chowan University men's golf team completed the second and final round of play at the CIAA Southern Divisional Tournament on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks finished in 3rd place out of the 8 teams that competed in the tournament.
Chowan finished round two of play with a team score of 313 securing a two-day total of 638. Virginia Union University took the title for first with a team total of 625 after a day two score of 313. The host Livingstone College grabbed second place after they shot 309 on the second day of play and totaled 628 as a team.
Chowan's Billy Britton took home medalist honors after he shot a 74 field low in round two and finished with a two-day total of 149. Steven Rhinard turned in a score of 77 shaving eight strokes off his first round score (85). Rhinard finished the tournament tied for 14th with a two-day score of 162. Finishing tied for 17th individually, both Jordan Francis and Christian Fleetwood finished with a two-day total of 164. Francis shot a 79 on Tuesday shaving six strokes off his first round (85), while Fleetwood shot an 83 on Tuesday.
Rich Edwards also competed in the CIAA Southern Division Tournament. Edwards carded an 84 in the opening round and an 83 in the final day of play. Baker finished tied for 20th. Dale Davis competed as an individual for the Blue and White. He scored a 85 in round two securing a 168 two-day total for the tournament and tied for 23rd.
The Hawks return to action on March 26th -28th as they host the CIAA Northern Divisional Tournament in Snow Hill, North Carolina.
