HILTON HEAD-The Chowan University men's tennis team concluded the Spring Tennisfest with a 9-0 win over Michigan Technological University on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Hawks moved to 5-5 on the season, while the Huskies slipped to 1-3 record after the loss.

The doubles duo of Farid Hajizada and Adi Kaliakperov earned an 8-1 victory in the number one doubles match over Mario Neto and Juan Felipe Chica. Mateusz Izycki and Mariano Yeh beat Ricardo Paes and Jacob Prochnow by a score of 8-1 in the number two doubles positon, while Rafael Goncalves and Louis Proulx also won for the Hawks over Illiya Chibirev and Tayler Bethke by a score of 8-3 in the number three doubles, bringing the team score to 3-0 heading into singles play.

In singles competition, Chowan picked up a win at all six positions. In the number one singles match, Kaliakperov defeated Neto 6-0, 6-4, while Chica fell to Hajizada in the number two singles 6-2, 6-2. Izycki picked up the number three singles play 6-2, 6-1 over Paes, while Yeh beat Chibirev 6-1, 6-2 in the number four singles position. At the fifth singles match, Goncalves won 6-1, 6-1 over Bethke. Barge secured the sixth singles victory over Prochnow 6-3, 6-2 for Chowan.

The Hawks are back in action on March 11th as they travel to Salisbury, North Carolina for a conference match up against Johnson C. Smith University. Match is slated for 9:00am.
