Chowan Softball Takes Two From Salem International
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University softball team picked up two wins on Saturday afternoon over Salem International University. The Hawks defeated the Tigers 10-2 in the opening game of the day before earning a 10-2 win in game two. Chowan advances to 7-11 on the season while Salem International dropped to 2-2 overall.
Kayla Robins picked up the win on the mound for the Hawks. She pitched six innings and struck out 10 batters.
For the Tigers, Kayla Lynch pitched the loss. Lynch gave up seven hits in five innings of work. Chowan exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to help propel them to the win. Robins accounted for four runs in the inning with a bases loaded homerun. Brook Bowen ended game one 2-3 at the plate with three RBI and Danielle Baccus had a 2-4 plate performance.
Chowan rolled to a 10-2 second game win to secure their 7th win of the season. Bowen notched a perfect plate performance after going 3-3.
Shannon Buchanan earned the win on the mound for the Hawks. Buchanan pitched six innings; scattered five hits while striking out five in the victory.
Katie Holestin took the loss for Salem. She pitched three innings, and stuck out three batters during the contest.
Chowan moved to 7-11 after Saturday's non-conference wins.The Hawks will hit the field again March 3rd-5th when they travel to Raleigh for the Shaw University Tournament.
