Chowan Women’s Basketball Roll in CIAA Divisional Win over Lincoln
LINCOLN, PA- The Chowan University women's basketball team picked up a decisive win over Lincoln University Wednesday evening. The Hawks move to 16-9 on the season and post a 9-6 mark in conference play while the Lady Lions drop to 7-18 on the year and 4-11 in the league.
Chantel Roberts opened the contest with a bucket to give the Hawks an early edge. A foul shot by Brianna Logan put the Lady Lions on the board at the 7:05minute mark, but it was all about the Hawks form there. After building their lead to as many as 22 points in the first half, Chowan went into the halftime break with a comfortable 52-25 advantage.
Chowan dominated the third and fourth quarters. The Hawks maintained a lead of 20 points or more in the remainder of the contest before closing out the game with a 82-64 win.
Chowan had 12 players score points in the victory. Roberts poured in 18 points for the Hawks while Danielle Weldon posted 11 points and five rebounds. Jordan Payne scored eight points and grabbed 16 boards in the contest.
For Lincoln University, She'cquan Bailey scored a game high of 17 points while Teira Pendleton hit for 16 points in the setback.
The Hawks will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, February 18th as they host Virginia Union University. Tip off is at 2:00pm. Saturday's game will serve as senior day with senior recognition prior to the 2:00pm tip off.
