Hawks Conclude Play at CIAA Roundup

MIDLOTHIAN, VA-The Chowan University bowling team closed out the third and final day of the CIAA North-South Divisional Round Up with a 3-2 mark in Baker's play to complete the event with a striking 11-4 record on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks finished in fourth place out of the 10 teams competing. Friday and Saturday's scores were based on total pin fall and team matches while Sunday's match was a Baker Style play.

The Hawks fell short 928-727 in match one on Sunday to Fayetteville State University before dropping match two 678-615 to John C. Smith University in Baker play. Chowan recovered in match three 698-574 over Saint Augustine's University before defeating Livingstone College 676-555 in the fourth match of Baker play. The Hawks took the 713-686 victory in match five over Shaw University to complete the day with a 3-2 record.

Chowan completed the weekend with a total pin count of 10,203. The Hawks knocked down 6,774 pins throughout the first two days of competition, and 3,429 pins in Baker play.

Fayetteville State University concluded the weekend in first place with an overall 14-1 record and a total pin count of 12,833. Bowie State University followed in second place with a 13-2 overall record while Virginia State University finished in third place posting a 12-3 record for the competition.

The Hawks return to action on March 10th-12th as they travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to compete in the CIAA Event III.
