Chowan Men’s Basketball Hangs on to Edge Bowie State University
Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC – The Chowan University men's basketball team picked up their second CIAA Northern Divisional win after edging Bowie State University 59-58 on Saturday evening. Chowan improved to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in CIAA play after the win.
Jeremy Smith's 23 points helped the Hawks in a second half surge that got them the one point win. The game featured nine ties and 12 lead changes but the Hawks got the final say.
Chowan shot 41% (18-44) from the floor in the game and saw three players net double-figures. Besides Smith's 23 points, Kevin Kuteyi scored 12 points and went 4-6 from beyond the three point arc. Joe Goodwin scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
The Bulldogs were paced by Ahmaad Wilson who scored 14 points. Dayshawn Wells added 12 points in the game.
Bowie State fell to 7-12 overall and 4-5 in CIAA play after Saturday's loss. Chowan will hit the floor again on Wednesday, January 25th, when they host Lincoln University at the Helms Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:30pm.
