Chowan-Virginia State Games to be Broadcast via ESPN3

MURFREESBORO, NC – The NCAA has selected the January 18, 2017 doubleheader between Chowan University and Virginia State University for its Division II Basketball Showcase lineup. The women's game will tipoff at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Center on the campus of Virginia State University. The game will stream live on ESPN3 and be accessible on WatchESPN and the ESPN app.

With the links above, fans will need to log in to WatchESPN using their credentials from their WatchESPN affiliated provider (i.e., Mediacom, Charter, Time Warner Cable)  Please note that their provider must have an agreement with ESPN to watch the games and most of the content on the site. A list of affiliated providers can be found here. Those who are on a college campus or military base will not need to log in.

Currently the CU women's basketball program is 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the CIAA. They are coming off a 69-57 road loss to CIAA Southern Division opponent, Winston-Salem State University. Senior forward Jordan Payne leads the squad in scoring with 14.5 points and outing and 11.0 rebounds a game. The Hawks have outscored opponents 1229 to 1085 this season and are averaging 76.8 points through 15 games. 

The CU men's program is currently 10-4 overall and 4-2 in league play. The Hawks are paced by senior forward Jeremy Smith who is averaging 15.7 points game and 8.6 rebounds an outing. Chowan most recently suffered a 80-75 loss at Winston-Salem State University on Monday night. The game was back-and-forth for nearly 38 minutes but the Rams pulled away in the final two minutes of play for the five-point win.
