CHARLOTTE, NC- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in conjunction with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and Sports Information Directors Association announced the CIAA Women's Basketball Player, Newcomer, Rookie, and Coach of the Week on Tuesday morning. 

Chowan University's Jordan Payne was tabbed CIAA Player of the Week. 

The Norfolk, Virginia native averaged 14 points per game and 13 rebounds per outing for the Hawks this week.  Her top performance was a 20-point, 14-rebound outing in an 80-59 victory over Shaw.  Payne has recorded seven double-doubles this season.  She averages 14.5 points per game and 12.4 rebounds per contest this year for the Chowan Blue and White. 

The Hawks stand 8-2 overall and hold a 1-0 mark at the start of CIAA play.  Chowan returns to action on Tuesday when the Hawks play host to Fayetteville State University in CIAA crossover play.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30pm in the Helms Center.
